President of Dangote Group, Alhaji Aliko Dangote, has demanded an explanation from the Chief Executive of the Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority over allegations of misconduct.

Dangote made the demand during a public engagement, accusing the NMDPRA boss, Mr Farouk Ahmed, of actions he said were detrimental to Nigeria’s oil and gas sector.

He alleged that regulatory decisions taken by the authority were undermining local refining efforts and discouraging investment in domestic petroleum production.

Dangote also called on the Code of Conduct Bureau to investigate the allegations, stressing the need for transparency and accountability among public office holders.

He urged the authorities to address the issues promptly in the interest of public confidence and the sustainable development of the petroleum industry.

The NMDPRA had yet to issue an official response to the allegations at the time of filing this report.
