Yobe Govt constitutes 10-man committee on minimum wage
The Yobe State Government has constituted a ten-man committee to oversee the implementation of the newly approved national minimum wage.
The committee, chaired by the Secretary to the State Government, was announced by the Chief Information Officer of the Office of the Head of Service, Mr. Alhassan Mamudo, on Thursday in Damaturu.
He said the committee’s membership includes key government officials and representatives from labor unions.
The Commissioner of Finance, Alhaji Mohammed Abatcha Geidam, and the State Accountant General, Chairmen of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) and the Trade Union Congress (TUC) serve as members of the committee.
Mamudo explained that the committee is saddled with responsibility to determining the financial implications of the new minimum wage on the state and local governments and making recommendations for government consideration.
“It will also work out modalities for the successful implementation of the wage increase,” he added.
