
Bauchi assembly urges commissioner to prioritize equality

The Bauchi State House of Assembly has called on the newly appointed Commissioner of Works and Transport to embrace quality and inclusivity in leadership and avoid distractions.
The Deputy Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Mr. Jamilu Dahiru made this statement during a courtesy visit by the House Committee on Works and Transport to the Commissioner on Monday in Bauchi
Dahiru emphasised the need for a leadership style that accommodates diverse perspectives and ensures that all stakeholders have a voice in the decision-making process.
He further cautioned against distractions that may arise in the course of discharging official duties, particularly baseless gossip and unwarranted criticisms, which could derail the Commissioner from achieving set objectives.
The Deputy Speaker stressed that leadership requires focus, resilience, and a commitment to public service.
Dahiru urged the Commissioner to channel his energy toward impactful governance that addresses the needs of the people.
The Chairman of the House Committee, Mr Adama Kawu, stated that the visit was to familiarize and felicitate with the Commissioner following his appointment by Gov Bala Mohammed.
He urged the Commissioner to place a premium on quality and standard works, ensuring that all road construction projects meet the highest standards of durability and efficiency.
Kawu noted that well-constructed roads not only enhance transportation and economic activities but also improve the overall well-being of residents.
Also speaking, Mr Bala Abdu-Rishi underscored the importance of sincerity, dedication, and an unwavering commitment to excellence in the execution of government projects.
He highlighted the pivotal role of the State Ministry in driving infrastructural development, particularly in the area of road construction and maintenance across the State.
