Police arrest man for alleged theft of cow in Bauchi

Police Command Bauchi State has arrested a 25-year-old man suspected of involvement in livestock theft. through its operation restore peace initiative in the State.

The Command’s Spokesman CSP Ahmed Wakil confirmed this to newsmen on Tuesday in Bauchi

He said the operation led to the recovery of three stolen cows and a green Volkswagen Sharon bus used during the crime.

The arrest was made on June 26, 2025, at about 4:00 p.m., following actionable intelligence received by police patrol teams in the Turum area of Bauchi.

Officers were alerted to suspicious movements involving individuals reportedly using the green vehicle to transport stolen livestock.

According to him, a swift response team, led by CSP Abdulrazak Padah, intercepted the suspect, a resident of Bolari Quarters in Gombe State.

“During interrogation, the suspect admitted to being part of a five-member syndicate involved in the theft of two cows from a migrating herdsman in Tungal village, Bauchi Local Government Area.

“He also named four other accomplices and disclosed that a receiver of the stolen animals is currently at large.

“A search operation resulted in the recovery of three cows and the vehicle used in the crime,” he said

Wakil said the command has intensified efforts to arrest the remaining suspects. saying once investigations are concluded, all involved will be prosecuted accordingly.

He urged the public to help identify the owners of the recovered livestock.
