Bauchi Traders Association of Wunti Market in Bauchi Metropolis has called on the Federal Government (FG), under the leadership of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, to provide soft loans aimed at boosting small and medium-scale businesses.

Alhaji Aminu Babaji, the Vice Chairman of the association, made the appeal on Thursday during a sensitisation campaign on the mid-term achievements of the Tinubu administration held in Bauchi.

Babaji noted that access to affordable credit facilities would create a more enabling environment for young entrepreneurs to thrive, stressing that many traders struggle to expand due to a lack of capital.

“The loan would go a long way in providing opportunities for small businesses to grow and for young entrepreneurs to excel.

“We have applied for loans several times, filling out numerous forms, yet most of us have never received any support.

“The Federal Government should directly empower people with the capital they need to boost their businesses.” he said.

He lamented the cumbersome nature of existing loan application processes, which he said discourages traders from seeking government support.

Earlier, the Head of the Information Center in Bauchi, Malam Ibrahim Ladan, sensitised traders on the policies and programmes of President Tinubu’s administration.

He explained various government initiatives designed to promote economic growth, improve market infrastructure, and support the informal sector.

Ladan urged traders to take advantage of the opportunities available under the administration’s economic reforms,

He noted that effective collaboration between government agencies and business communities is essential for sustainable economic development.

The event drew participation from market leaders, shop owners, and young entrepreneurs, many of whom call for easier access to government-backed financial support.
