NSCDC Intercepts Truck Conveying Vandalised Railway Tracks, Arrests Five Suspects in Bauchi

The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Bauchi State Command, has recorded a major breakthrough in its fight against infrastructure vandalism with the interception of a truck loaded with vandalised railway materials and the arrest of five suspects.
This is contained in a press release signed by the Command’s spokesperson, ASC Saminu Yusuf, made available to newsmen on Friday in Bauchi
According to a press release issued on Thursday, January 23, 2026, the interception followed credible intelligence received on January 12, 2026, at about 3:00 a.m.
NSCDC personnel on routine patrol along the Miri–Jos Road intercepted a Dangote-branded long vehicle truck with registration number MDB 360 XA around Gital town in Tafawa Balewa Local Government Area.
The truck was found conveying 80 pieces of vandalised railway tracks and five slippers, cleverly concealed under bags of chicken feed, allegedly en route to the eastern part of the country.
Investigations revealed that the owner and alleged mastermind, identified as Mr. John, alongside the truck driver, Auwal, are currently at large, while efforts are ongoing to apprehend them.
The five suspects arrested in connection with the crime include Adam Kolo (42) from Borno State, Samuel Musa (44) from Yobe State, Solomon Jankaro (40) from Niger State, Emmanuel Collins (26), and Sunday David (20), both from Enugu State.
Exhibits recovered during the operation include the vandalised railway tracks, bags of chicken feed used as camouflage, the long vehicle truck, and a Lexus LX 350 with registration number BWR 60 DN.
In a related development, NSCDC operatives arrested one Nura Abdullahi of Wuntin Dada area, Bauchi, on January 14, 2026, for motorcycle theft.
Preliminary investigations revealed his involvement in a syndicate dealing in stolen motorcycles valued at over ₦2.02 million.
According to release, the State Commandant, Commandant Oloyede Nelson Oyerinde, commended his personnel for their vigilance
Reaffirmed the command’s resolve to rid Bauchi State of vandals and criminal elements.
The Commandant urged residents to support security agencies by providing timely and credible information on suspicious activities.
