Governor Mai Mala Buni of Yobe has confirmed Dr Mohammed Goje as the substantive Secretary to the State Government (SSG).

The confirmation is contained in a statement issued on Wednesday in Damaturu by the Director-General, Press and Media Affairs to the Governor, Mamman Mohammed.

The statement said Goje had been serving as the Acting Secretary to the State Government since April 29, 2026.

Before his appointment as acting SSG, Goje served as the Executive Secretary of the Yobe State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA).

Buni charged the substantive SSG to justify the confidence reposed in him by adding value to good governance and enhancing service delivery in the state.

The governor urged Goje to remain committed to the administration’s drive to deliver effective governance and improve the welfare of the people.

Goje was appointed acting SSG following the resignation of Alhaji Baba Malam Wali, who stepped down from the office after emerging as the All Progressives Congress (APC) consensus aspirant for the 2027 Yobe governorship election.

His appointment as acting SSG was to ensure continuity in the coordination of government activities and administrative functions pending the appointment of a substantive occupant of the office. Wednesday’s decision formally confirms him as the substantive Secretary to the State Government.

The confirmation takes immediate effect.
