NAF commissions intervention projects in Potiskum

The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has commissioned Special Intervention Projects executed in Sabongari Primary School and selected communities in Potiskum Local Government Area of Yobe.
The projects, executed in honour of Air Vice Marshal Idi Sani, Director of Search and Rescue and an indigene of Yobe, are aimed at strengthening civil-military relations and addressing critical social needs in the benefiting communities.
The Chief of the Air Staff, Air Marshal Sunday K. Aneke, represented by the Air Officer Commanding, Special Operations Command, Bauchi, Air Vice Marshal A. Idriss, said the intervention was part of NAF’s non-kinetic operations.
Idriss said the initiative was designed to win the hearts and minds of the people, build trust and secure community support for national security.
He said strong civil-military relations remained essential to strengthening the country’s security architecture.
According to him, the NAF remained committed to initiatives that foster closer ties between the military and communities.
He said the intervention included the renovation and furnishing of three blocks comprising six classrooms and three staff offices at Sabongari Primary School.
He added that three blocks comprising six classrooms, a multipurpose laboratory and four staff offices were also renovated at Government Girls Day Secondary School, Sabongari.
The intervention also included the construction of four solar-powered boreholes in Majewa, Yindiski Gakoko, Gabar da Kasuwa and Maina Kaina communities.
Idriss urged beneficiaries to protect and properly utilise the facilities, while calling for sustained cooperation with security agencies.
He appealed to residents to provide timely and credible intelligence to security agencies to assist in combating security threats.
The project executor, AVM Idi Sani, reaffirmed NAF’s commitment to supporting communities through interventions that address essential social needs and complement government development efforts.
Representing Gov. Mai Mala Buni of Yobe, the Commissioner for Wealth Creation, Empowerment and Employment Generation, Alhaji Aji Yarima Bularafa, commended the NAF for the initiative.
Bularafa said the projects were in line with the Buni administration’s agenda of extending modern infrastructure and essential services to communities at the grassroots.
He conveyed the governor’s appreciation to the Chief of the Air Staff and the NAF for the intervention, describing it as a significant contribution to the development and wellbeing of the people of Yobe.
The pupils, students and members of the beneficiary communities applauded the NAF for the projects and pledged to make judicious use of the facilities.
