Reps Candidate Vows to Prioritise Farmers, Youth Empowerment in Borno

Mr Milda Kutila Satomari (Haske), a House of Representatives candidate, under the People Democratic Party (PDP) has pledged to prioritise farmers, women and youth empowerment if elected to represent Askira-Uba/Hawul Federal Constituency.
Satomari made the pledge while speaking with newsmen at the end of a town hall meeting with stakeholders in Maiduguri.
He said his political platform, known as the Haske Movement, was established to provide practical solutions to some of the challenges confronting the people.
He said the movement would focus on securing farmers to return to their farms and earn a livelihood, providing women with access to land and farm grants, and supplying fertiliser to boost agricultural production.
According to him, women involved in petty trading will also be empowered, while youths will be trained in entrepreneurship and other skills to make them self-reliant and gainfully employed.
Satomari said the Haske Foundation had already commenced skills acquisition programmes and business interventions for youths and women.
He added that some beneficiaries had been trained in artificial intelligence to enable them to use emerging technologies to improve their marketing and employment opportunities.
The candidate described stakeholder engagement as a continuous process, saying regular consultations were necessary to understand the concerns of the people and build confidence after elections.
On concerns over alleged divisions within the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Satomari said internal challenges were common to political parties, stressing that mechanisms existed to address them.
“As far as the people are concerned, and as far as the PDP in Borno State and Southern Borno is concerned, we are one indivisible PDP,” he said.
He clarified that the Haske Movement was not a political party, but a movement comprising PDP members and people who belonged to other or no political parties.
Satomari said his objective was to provide effective representation and contribute to national policies and development.
Also speaking, Alhaji Ibrahim Abba Ghana, Borno governorship candidate, stressed the need to secure farmers and enable them to return to their farms and earn a livelihood.
