Troops of the Joint Task Force (North East), Operation HADIN KAI (OPHK), have neutralised at least 16 terrorists and recovered assorted weapons during operations in Sector 4 of Adamawa State.
The operations, conducted between September 30 and October 1, 2026, involved ground ambushes, a precision air strike and defensive operations against terrorist attacks on military positions.
In the Boima general area of Gombi Local Government Area, troops ambushed a terrorist enclave, killing 16 fighters.
The troops subsequently recovered three AK-47 rifles, two pump-action rifles, one Dane gun, six AK-47 magazines and a belt of pump-action cartridges.
In a separate operation, the Air Component of OPHK carried out a precision air strike after an Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance platform detected about 16 terrorists and 15 motorcycles gathered under a tree canopy in Sector 4.
The strike, conducted at about 5:30am on October 1 following positive identification of the target, recorded a direct hit. The Theatre Command said subsequent battle damage assessment confirmed the destruction of the target, while surviving terrorists fled the area.
Meanwhile, troops also repelled coordinated attacks on military positions at 226 Battalion in Garkida and 232 Battalion in Garaha.
The attackers were forced to withdraw following the troops’ response. However, three soldiers were killed during the fighting, while wounded personnel were evacuated and are receiving treatment.
The military said follow-up exploitation and mop-up operations were ongoing in the affected areas.
The Theatre Command attributed the latest successes to enhanced coordination among land and air components, as part of ongoing efforts to strengthen joint operations across the theatre.
It reaffirmed its commitment to sustaining operations against terrorists and urged members of the public to remain vigilant and provide credible information to security agencies.
