The Kashim Ibrahim University Teaching Hospital (KIUTH) has organised a one-day sensitisation training on Ebola Virus Disease (EVD) for its medical officers and nursing staff to strengthen the hospital’s preparedness for potential disease outbreaks.
The Chief Medical Director, Prof. Ibrahim Musa Kida, facilitated the training alongside Prof. Usman Muhammad Tela. The sessions focused on early identification of Ebola symptoms, prompt isolation of suspected cases, infection prevention and control, proper use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), and safe clinical management procedures.
Participants were also allowed to ask questions, share professional experiences, and deepen their understanding of effective outbreak prevention and emergency response.
As part of its broader preparedness measures, the hospital management disclosed plans to extend the sensitisation campaign to other categories of staff and surrounding communities to promote public awareness, encourage early reporting of suspected cases and strengthen preventive practices.
The initiative reflects KIUTH’s commitment to safeguarding healthcare workers, patients and the general public while improving the institution’s capacity to respond effectively to potential public health emergencies.
