The Borno State Contributory Healthcare Management Agency (BOSCHMA) has hosted a special appreciation reception for its staff, partners and stakeholders following its recognition with a national award for excellence in digital health service delivery.

The event, held on Wednesday evening at the agency’s office in Maiduguri, was organised to celebrate the achievement and acknowledge the collective contributions of staff members and partners to the agency’s progress.

Speaking at the occasion, the Executive Secretary of BOSCHMA, Dr Saleh Abba Kaza, described the award as a significant milestone, stressing that it reflected the dedication, teamwork and commitment of personnel across the agency.

He explained that the gathering was also an opportunity to celebrate with staff members who were unable to attend the national award ceremony at the Presidential Villa in Abuja.

Dr Kaza said the recognition was not the achievement of an individual but the result of collective efforts, adding that every staff member had played a role in the agency’s development.

He described the award as a call for greater responsibility and improved performance, urging employees to sustain their commitment to delivering efficient and accessible healthcare services.

The Executive Secretary also commended the media for its continued support in creating public awareness about the agency’s activities and promoting understanding of contributory healthcare services.

He equally expressed appreciation to Governor Babagana Umara Zulum for his administration’s support, noting that the government’s commitment to rebuilding Borno State had continued to inspire public servants to contribute to the state’s development.

Dr Kaza also acknowledged the contributions of the parent ministry, sister agencies, development partners and other stakeholders, particularly those who had supported BOSCHMA since its establishment in 2020.

On the agency’s achievements, he said digital transformation had remained a major priority since he assumed office, with particular attention to the digitalisation of operations, including the enrolment of healthcare facilities and management of accredited service providers.

He explained that the adoption of electronic processes had helped reduce paperwork, minimise administrative delays and improve efficiency in healthcare management and service delivery.

The Executive Secretary reaffirmed the agency’s determination to expand access to affordable and quality healthcare, particularly for vulnerable residents and communities in hard-to-reach areas across the state’s 27 local government areas.

BOSCHMA was recently honoured by the Presidency as the Best State Ministry, Department or Agency (MDA) in Digital Health Service Delivery under the national Government Technology (GovTech) Awards, in recognition of its efforts in promoting technology-driven healthcare services.

The appreciation reception provided an opportunity for the agency’s management, staff and partners to celebrate the national recognition and renew their commitment to strengthening healthcare delivery across Borno State.
