2023: Youth forum canvases support for Emefile’s presidential ambition in Yobe
Unified Northern Nigeria Youth Forum, a coalition of 40 youth groups has canvassed support for Dr Godwin Emefile, the Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) to run for the 2023 presidency.
Mr Aliyu Sani, the spokesperson of the forum said on Wednesday in Damaturu that, their support for Emefile was born out his numerous initiatives and revolution in the Nigerian agricultural sector.
Sani said, most of the CBN’s interventions under the present administration of President Muhammadu Buhari were Emefile’s initiatives.
Some of the initiatives according to him include Real Sector Support Facility, Commercial Agricultural Credit Scheme, National Food Security Programme and the Presidential Fertiliser Initiative (PFI).
“Under Dr. Godwin Emefiele’s stewardship, CBN also disbursed a total of over N114 billion to support the fertiliser industry in the last five years.
“These innovative interventions were long-term loans at concessionary interest rates to support domestic blending and distribution of fertilizer across the country.”, Sani added.
He said these gestures, among others demonstrated Emefiele’s love for Agriculture and masses.
Sani also noted that Yobe and all other Northern states had benefited more from such initiatives saying “when it comes to agriculture, the North leads while others follow.”
Also speaking, Dr Abdullahi Nangere, the forum’s Yobe Coordinator said Yobe state youth were among the highest beneficiaries of Emefiele’s Post COVID 19 loan initiatives among many other interventions.
He therefore assured that Yobe youth would support Emefiele’s to contest for President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria in comes 2023
