Yobe PDP gubernatorial candidate vows to restructure education agriculture
Alhaji Sheriff Abdullahi, the Yobe People’s Democratic Party (PDP) governorship candidate for 2023 elections has promised to restructure education and agriculture sectors for effective service delivery, if elected.
Abdullahi made the promise at the party’s Zone B governorship rally in Potiskum on Thursday.
He noted that revamping the sectors would create jobs for the people and stimulate economic development.
“ We will industrialise agriculture to have value for money; create more job opportunities and enhance productivity,” he said.
The candidate said he would run an all-inclusive government and give experienced and competent individuals the opportunity to serve the people.
In his remarks, Alhaji Iliya Damagum, PDP Deputy National Chairman, North, said with the coming into force of the new Electoral Act, 2022, the end of vote rigging was in sight.
He expressed optimism that with a free and fair election, the PDP had enough support to clinch governorship of the state for the first time since 1999.
The former Minister of Police Affairs, Alhaji Adamu Waziri, charged the people to vote for the PDP to end economic and security challenges in the state and the country at large.
On the gale of defection rocking the party in the state, he said defections do not destroy parties.
“ Many notable politicians in Yobe had once defected from the PDP to other parties. But the party still exists because no any individual is bigger than it.
“ We may not have produced the governor since 1999, but certainly the popularity this party currently enjoys, especially in this part of the state, is second to none,” Waziri said.
Our correspondent reports that the stakeholders had earlier paid courtesy visits to the emirs of Fika and Potiskum before the rally.
