Diphtheria

Damaturu, March 2, 2024 (NAN) The Nigeria Red Cross Society (NRCS) in Yobe, has trained stakeholders to enhance awareness creation on the symptoms and preventive tips to control Diphtheria.
Dr Sabo Dagona, the NRCS Acting Branch Secretary in the state, who stated this on Saturday in Damaturu, said the exercise was to promote awareness among stakeholders on the ongoing Diphtheria campaign in the country.
He said the organisation extended outreach to the Federation of Muslim Women’s Associations in Nigeria (FOMWAN), Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) among others.
Dagona said that Diphtheria manifested in parts of the state, hence the need to educate the people to stem the disease.
“Therefore, there is need for sensitising the people to become aware of what the disease is? How it’s being contracted and how they can protect themselves,” he said.
While commending the Yobe government and other partners for concerted efforts to control the disease, Dagona lauded community leaders and stakeholders for their support. (NAN) (www.nannews.ng)
