
NSCDC Yobe Command Warns Officers Against Unprofessional Conduct During Protests
Mr Adamu Zakari, State Commandant of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) Yobe has urged officers and men to conduct themselves professionally while discharging their duties amidst the agitated nationwide protests.
Zakari made the call while addressing the personnel on the need to operate within the Standard Operational Procedures (SOP) stipulated by the Corps on Tuesday in Damaturu.
He stressed that the Constitution guarantees the right to peaceful assembly and protest.
He said and any untoward behaviour from or towards peaceful protesters would not be condoned.
However, he noted that operatives must act within the rules of engagement to prevent destruction of life and properties, particularly critical national assets and infrastructures.
The commandant appealed to law-abiding youths in the state to exercise patience and patriotism.
While he urged them not to jeopardise the relative peace enjoyed in the state, Zakari commended their resilience and good conduct in cooperating with security agencies in the fight against insurgency and criminal tendencies.
