Cattle rearers association begs protesters to sheath swords, seeks dialogue
The Kulen Allah Cattle Rearers Association of Nigeria (KACRAN) has appealed to protesters to suspend their planned nationwide demonstrations for the country’s peace, unity, and corporate existence.
National President of the association, Khalil Bello made the appeal during a press briefing in Damaturu on Tuesday.
He emphasised the need for dialogue between the Federal Government (FG) and protesters to address the country’s economic hardships.
Bello expressed concerns that protests often lead to loss of lives, property damage, and undesirable outcomes, citing examples from Sudan, Libya, and Nigeria’s End SARS protests.
The association suggested some alternatives to include suspending the planned demonstrations, FG reviewing protesters’ demands, massive importation and distribution of food and essential commodities across all levels.
The association also called on the FG to reconsider the issue of fuel subsidy removal, electricity tariff increment among other measures.
KACRAN also urged state and local governments to also purchase and distribute food items to their populace, particularly in villages and rural areas.
