Residents of various communities in Yobe have expressed gratitude to Gov Mai Mala Buni for the construction of access roads in their areas.

The commendation came during an inspection tour organised by the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Yobe Council, on Tuesday.

Malam Kakdu Kafayo, a resident of Tagali in Bade Local Government Area, lauded the 10-kilometer Chumbusko-Tagali road, saying it had significantly improved their lives.

According to him, transportation of farm produce to markets had been a major challenge before the road was constructed.

Sharing similar sentiments, Malam Sama’ila Tagali, a motorist, appealed for the construction of storage facilities to preserve their agricultural produce.

In Chukuriwa, the village head, Alhaji Muhammadu Chukuriwa, commended the governor for the 16.5-kilometer Dawasa, Chukuriwa, Kukuri road, which has connected several villages to Potiskum.

He also expressed appreciation for the construction of a Jumaat Mosque in the community.

Malam Ishaku Ado, the Masaya of Kukuri, joined in the commendation, attributing the success of the project to the Commissioner for Works, Alhaji Umar Wakil Duddaye.

In Fika, the Vice Chairman of the local government described the road project as a historic achievement that had been long awaited by the people.

He noted that the road had linked five wards and three local government areas.

The NUJ Chairman, Rajab Muhammed, praised the governor for his outstanding performance and called on other governors to emulate him.

Muhammed expressed appreciation for the opportunity to inspect the projects and commended the state government for its commitment to infrastructure development.
