Yobe Govt Powers 85 Youths, Boosts Local Economy
The Yobe Government has empowered 85 youths with shoemaking skills to reduce unemployment and poverty in the state.
Aji Yerima Bularafa, the Commissioner for Wealth Creation, Empowerment and Employment Generation disclosed this during the closing ceremony of the training programme in Damaturu on Wednesday.
Bularafa said the training was part of the state government’s efforts to create job opportunities for the youth and support small businesses.
He commended the state Gov Mai Mala Buni, for his commitment to youth empowerment and economic development.
“Mai Mala Buni, has always prioritised youth empowerment and job creation. This ministry is a testament to his commitment to uplifting our people,” he said.
The commissioner urged the beneficiaries to make good use of the skills and starter packs provided by the government.
He also warned the beneficiaries against selling the starter packs, assuring them of continued support from the government.
In his remarks, Gov Buni charged the beneficiaries to be diligent and innovative in utilising their newly acquired skills.
Buni represented by his Deputy Alhaji Idi Barde Gubana also urged them to contribute positively to the state’s economy.
He also warned youths against heavy reliance on white-collar jobs.
Malam Ibrahim Damaturu, a leader of the beneficiary, expressed gratitude to the state government for the opportunity.
He also commended the commissioner for selecting genuine individuals for the empowerment programme.
