NEYIF Inaugurates Kole Shettima Fellowship for Good Governance

The management, staff, and volunteers of the North East Youth Initiative For Development (NEYIF) have celebrated the 65th birthday of Dr. Kole Shettima, Director of the MacArthur Foundation’s Africa Office, with the launch of a fellowship in his name.

Dr. Shettima, described by NEYIF as a “quintessential leader,” was lauded for his “brilliance, dedication, and unwavering service.” NEYIF acknowledged his role as a cherished member and partner of the organization, highlighting his influence as a “beacon of innovation and efficiency.”

In honor of Dr. Shettima’s milestone birthday, NEYIF announced the establishment of the KOLE SHETTIMA FELLOWSHIP FOR GOOD GOVERNANCE (KSF). This fellowship aims to train, mentor, and enhance the knowledge and skills of young Nigerians in key areas such as good governance, education, transitional justice, and advanced democracy. NEYIF stated that the KSF will serve to sustain the legacy of Dr. Shettima’s impactful work.

The organization expressed immense joy and gratitude in celebrating Dr. Shettima’s 65 years, recognizing the profound impact he has had on NEYIF and the most vulnerable in society. They emphasized his contributions to countless lives and projects, leaving an “incredible mark” on everything he has been a part of.

“Today, and always, we celebrate not just your 65 years of existence but the incredible impact you have had on our organization and the most vulnerable,” NEYIF stated. “You have serially touched countless lives, empowered countless projects, and left an incredible mark on everything you have been part of.”

NEYIF management conveyed their love, gratitude, and admiration for Dr. Shettima. Further details regarding the official unveiling of the Kole Shettima Fellowship for Good Governance will be released soon, according to the organization.
