The North-East Development Commission (NEDC) has donated food items to 1,900 direct beneficiaries affected by Boko Haram insurgency and other disasters in Yobe State.
Prof. Ali Ibrahim Abbas, NEDC State Coordinator, handed over the items to state government officials on Wednesday in Damaturu.
The donation was made in anticipation of Ramadan and aimed to support the state government’s efforts in alleviating the suffering of people with special needs.
The beneficiaries, including people living with disabilities, are from nine local government areas, including Damaturu, Gujba, Bursari, Geidam, Yunusari among others.
Dr. Mairo Amshi, Commissioner for Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and Disaster Management, thanked the commission and State Coordinator for their hard work and facilitation of a cordial relationship with the state through the ministry.
Alhaji Bura Gabai, Chairman of Yobe Commission of Persons with Disability, also expressed gratitude to NEDC for the support and the state government for creating the commission.
This donation is part of NEDC’s efforts to provide relief to victims of insurgency and disasters in the North-East region.
