FedPoly Bauchi gets NBTE green light for 8 new programmes

The Federal Polytechnic Bauchi has achieved a landmark success as it received a letter of grant of accreditation for all its academic programmes from the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE), securing a remarkable 100% accreditation status.

This is contained in a statement signed by Mohammed Rabiu Wada, Director, Information and Public Protocol made available to newsmen on Wednesday in Bauchi.

It said the official letter, signed by Dr. Fatima Kabir Umar, Director of the Polytechnic Programmes Department, also conveyed the NBTE’s approval for the institution to commence eight new academic programmes, a move aimed at expanding its academic offerings to meet emerging national needs and global trends.

The newly approved academic programmes include Higher National Diploma (HND),Crime Management, Cooperative Economics and Management, Taxation, Cybersecurity and Data Protection, Artificial Intelligence,

Others are Strategic Communication and Media Studies,Film and Multimedia Production and National Diploma (ND), Urban and Regional Planning.

“In its communication, the NBTE commended the Polytechnic for its unwavering commitment to quality, innovation, and academic relevance.

However, it also outlined specific requirements including improvements in operational costs, infrastructure, and equipment that must be met to fully regularize the newly introduced programmes.

“The Polytechnic management has already initiated measures to address these conditions in line with NBTE benchmarks,” the statement said.

Reacting to the development, Rector of the Polytechnic, Alhaji Sani Usman, described the achievement as “a bold validation of the Polytechnic’s capacity to deliver high-quality technical and vocational education aligned with Nigeria’s developmental goals and global best practices.”

He further emphasized that the introduction of the new programmes underscores the institution’s commitment to staying ahead in the areas of digital innovation, media transformation, economic development, and urban planning.

According to the NBTE guidelines, the already accredited programmes are due for the next re-accreditation in 2030, while the newly approved ones will undergo their first accreditation exercise when the pioneer students reach their fourth semester.
