Prof. Ali Abbas: An Illuminating Beacon of Knowledge and Humanitarian Services
By Abdulazeez Yakubu Hassan
In a world often clouded by uncertainty, Prof. Ali Ibrahim Abbas stands as a reliable lighthouse—guiding, inspiring, empowering, and illuminating the paths of countless seekers of mentorship, knowledge, and personal development.
As a distinguished political intellectual, his invaluable contributions to the Department of Political Science at Yobe State University, Damaturu, have become a subject of admiration and respect. It is important to recognize this remarkable aspect of his legacy.
Prof. Ali Abbas, as we fondly call him, is a humanitarian who embodies empowerment, mentorship, guidance, job creation, and everything that transforms darkness into light for those in need.
I vividly remember how, even during his early days as a lecturer, he used his scholarship scheme to cover the registration fees of many students. More recently, his Ramadan empowerment initiatives, permanent and pensionable appointments, political appointments, livelihood support programs, facility rehabilitation projects, and grant provisions have left an indelible mark—acts of generosity I will forever cherish.
Allow me to emphasize that although our paths crossed less than half a decade, my curiosity compelled me to delve deeper into his impactful work. I researched the mighty foundation he established—AIA Charity Foundation—and discovered how it is transforming and improving the lives of vulnerable individuals both within and beyond Yobe State.
My perspective on politics and governance changed profoundly after our first engagement. It was then I realized how far-sighted and insightful his vision truly is.
His famous quote; “we rise by lifting others”, I believe was one of the reasons why life, from the onset, continues to fall in pleasant places for him.
Like a torch cutting through darkness, his ideas dispel ignorance. My mentor is someone you will genuinely enjoy engaging with—a person who, upon meeting, will undoubtedly broaden your knowledge and understanding.
When Prof. Abbas speaks about politics, he seamlessly blends scholarly rigor with moral clarity, leaving his audience in silent awe.
As I put down my pen, I reflect on the profound impact this intellectual giant has made. The challenges before us remain daunting, but beacons like Prof. Ali Ibrahim Abbas remind us all that knowledge and politics, when paired with decisive action, can illuminate the path toward a better world.
