Barr. Kashim Musa Tumsah (KMT), has awarded N100,000 each to 29 students in Yobe who scored 300 points and above in the 2025 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME), to motivate academic excellence and boost education in the state.

The total donation of N2.9 million was announced at a ceremony attended by parents, beneficiaries and other stakeholders on Saturday in Damaturu.

Speaking at the event on behalf of Tumsah, Hajiya Adama Balla described the award as a deliberate effort to reward resilience, uplift young talents, and promote inclusive education, particularly for persons with disabilities and girls.

“Today’s event also reaffirms Tumsah’s commitment to grassroots empowerment through education, especially of the girl child.

“An educated girl transforms her family, her community and her nation.

“To our extraordinary persons with disabilities, your admission into an educational institution is not merely a personal achievement — it is a testament to the power of resilience.

“Alhaji Kashim Musa Tumsah has always affirmed that ability does not mean inability. Your success today proves this. You are pioneers whose journey will inspire others to dream and to achieve,” she added.

Also speaking, the Member representing Machina Constituency in the Yobe House of Assembly, Alhaji Kachalla Maina, whose child was among the beneficiaries, lauded the initiative.

“We are gathered here to witness the generous support of a philanthropist to students who excelled in this year’s JAMB examination by scoring 300 and above,” he said.

Maina described the gesture as unprecedented, noting that it was the first time an individual donated such a substantial sum to high-performing students in the state.

“This is an incredible and commendable initiative. We deeply appreciate Barr. Tumsah’s effort and call on other well-meaning individuals to emulate him.

“This kind of support will go a long way in encouraging students to pursue academic excellence,” he added.

The students expressed gratitude to the donor and pledged to continue working hard to make the state proud.
