
25th anniversary : Fintiri congratulates Emir of Ganye
Gov Ahmadu Fintiri of Adamawa has congratulated the Emir of Ganye, Alhaji Umaru Sanda, on his 25th year on throne.
Sanda is the Ganwari of Ganye and the paramount ruler of the Ganye Chiefdom in the state.
Speaking at the 25th anniversary celebration of the emir in Ganye on Saturday, Fintiri commended the emir for his fatherly role in the maintenance of peace and security in the area.
“I commend your effort in complementing the effort of government especially in the area of conflict resolution, youth empowerment and cultural preservation.
“Let this anniversary be a call for unity, mutual respect and continues cooperation for the growth of Ganye and the state at large”, he said.
The governor called on residents of Ganye chiefdom to cooperate with the emir for the growth and development of the area.
Fintiri announced the renaming of the state College of Agriculture Ganye to college of Agriculture, Science and Technology, Ganye.
“This is beyond the change of name but a change in the mandate, soft and potential in the collage.
“I urge the people in Ganye to support government in it’s determination to make Ganye Chiefdom economically vibrant and socially cohesive,” he said.
In his remarks, retired Gen. Theophilus Danjuma, who Chaired the occasion, also congratulated the Emir for serving the chiefdom for a quota of a century successfully.
He called on the people in the chiefdom to continue supporting the Emir and leave in peace with one another.
Danjuma, who is chamba man by tribe, also thanked the emir for presenting him with the traditional title of “Gang Paan Ganye.”
Responding, Sanda thanked God for giving him the opportunity of saving the chiefdom for 25 years, and appreciated the support and cooperation of subjects.
“I am the happiest person in the chiefdom, let us imbibe the spirit of peace and unity so that our Chiefdom, state and the country to progress,” he said.
