Concerned youth stakeholders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Yobe have cautioned the party against what they described as last-minute disqualification of aspirants ahead of primaries.

The group expressed concern over the disqualification of Alhaji Hassan Kafayos from participating in the Zone C Senatorial Primaries scheduled for Monday.

The stakeholders made their position known in a statement issued in Damaturu on Monday.

They said the emerging trend of disqualifying aspirants at the last minute could negatively affect the party’s electoral fortunes in the state.

The group also warned that such actions could undermine efforts toward the re-election of President Bola Tinubu in 2027.

“We therefore call on the national leadership of our great party to tread with caution on taking this hasty and dangerous approach,” the statement said.

The stakeholders alleged that some interests within the party were bent on imposing unpopular candidates on the state.

They urged the APC leadership to embrace dialogue and fairness in handling internal party affairs.

The group further appealed to party leaders not to jeopardise the future of the APC and the country’s democracy through actions capable of creating disaffection among members.
