Alhaji Baba Malam Wali, the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate in Yobe, has received three traditional titles during consultations with traditional rulers ahead of the 2027 election.

Wali was conferred with Sarkin Yakin Gudi by the Emir of Gudi, His Royal Highness Alhaji Ismail Ahmad Dala Ibn Madugu Khaji II; Ajiyan Tikau by the Emir of Tikau, His Royal Highness Alhaji Abubakar Muhammad Ibn Grema; and Zanna Kaloma of Pataskum by the Emir of Pataskum, His Royal Highness Alhaji Umaru Bubaram Ibn Wuriwa.

His running mate, Barrister Saleh Samanja, was also honoured with the title of Turakin Tikau.

The honours were conferred as Wali, accompanied by APC leaders and government officials, visited the four emirates to seek royal prayers, advice and support ahead of the election.

At Gudi, the Emir described the emirate as Wali’s home and said the title of Sarkin Yakin Gudi had previously been conferred on the late former Governor of Yobe, Sen. Bukar Abba Ibrahim.

He prayed for Wali’s success in 2027.

At Pataskum, the Emir assured the delegation of the emirate’s support, while former Deputy Governor and former Minister of Power, Engr. Abubakar D. Aliyu, said the visit demonstrated the importance attached to the traditional institution.

At Fune, the Emir, His Royal Highness Dr. Saleh Idriss Ibn Usman, commended Wali for consulting traditional rulers, describing the move as wise and important.

The APC State Chairman, Alhaji Mohammed Gadaka, said the consultations were undertaken on the directive of Gov. Mai Mala Buni to seek royal blessings, prayers, guidance and support.
