Dutse – The Jigawa branch of the Jama’atu Nasril Islam (JNI), an umbrella group for the Nigerian Muslim Community, has urged residents of the state to collect their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) ahead of the 2027 general elections.
JNI’s Secretary in the state, Malam Muhammad Babangida, made the call in a statement on Wednesday in Dutse.
Muhammad said it is imperative for all eligible citizens of the state who have registered to collect their PVCs at Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) designated centrers across the 27 Logal government areas of the state.
“According to the information made available to JNI, the PVC collection exercise is ongoing until the end of November 2026. JNI considers the collection of PVCs an important step towards enabling eligible
citizens to exercise their constitutional right to vote and participate responsibly in
shaping the political and future development of the country,” Muhammad said.
He also appealed to religious groups, emirate councils, civil society organizations and other community leaders to mobilize members of their respective communities and followers through peaceful civic education, sermons, public announcements and other lawful means to encourage all eligible registered voters to collect their PVCs.
The scribe further called on politicians, political parties, state/local
government councils, philanthropists and all those who genuinely desire good governance, national development and Nigeria’s prosperity to support the PVC distribution exercise.
“Appropriate support may include providing reliable information and, where lawful and necessary transportation assistance to eligible citizens who face financial, mobility or other practical difficulties in reaching
designated INEC collection centers.
“Nigerian muslims umbrella organizations stresses that any assistance must be
voluntary, non-partisan and consistent with applicable electoral laws and INEC
guidelines. No citizen should be coerced, intimidated or induced to support any
political party or candidate in exchange for assistance with PVC collection,” he added.
The secretary further urged community and religious leaders in the state to use their
respected positions and influence to promote civic responsibility, peaceful political participation, mutual respect and national unity.
According to him, PVC collection should
be an opportunity to strengthen public confidence in the democratic process and
encourage citizens to contribute to the emergence of credible leadership through
lawful and peaceful means.
“As Nigeria moves towards the 2027 General Elections, JNI reiterates that the
country’s future depends on the responsible participation of its eligible citizens. All
registered voters are therefore encouraged to collect their PVCs promptly, verify
election-related information through official INEC channels and remain committed
to peace, tolerance and respect for the rule of law before, during and after the
elections.
“We therefore call on all stakeholders to regard this appeal as a shared responsibility towards strengthening democracy, promoting credible elections and advancing the peace, unity, stability and prosperity of Jigawa state and the Federal Republic of Nigeria.May Allah grant Nigeria peaceful, credible and successful elections in 2027,” Muhammad said.
