Yobe State Governor Mai Mala Buni has sworn-in nine Permanent Secretaries on Tuesday in Damaturu.

While congratulating them, Buni said the appointments were best on merit, qualification and individual competence.

He urged them to add value from their wealth of experience to the Civil Service for government to achieve its set goals, and deliver the required services to the people.

He equally urged them to use their long years of experience to inject wisdom and skills to promote Good Governance and groom their subordinates especially the newly recruited staff for sustainability.

“As you are aware, this administration recently employed over 2,600 degree graduates, Diploma and NCE holders to fill in the vacant positions in the civil service to enhance productivity.

“I charge the Office of the Head of Service and the Permanent Secretaries to promote schedules of responsibilities for the new staff to justify their employment and wages.

“This will give our workers a sense of belonging and involvement, and check cases of idleness and absenteeism to promote vibrancy and productivity,” the governor said.

He reiterated government’s commitment to due process and transparency in conducting government business.

” All communications and movement of files must follow the normal procedure and channels for proper documentation’
‘On no account should government files be released to unauthorised persons. The Secretary to the State Government is hereby directed to take note and act accordingly,” he stated.

“Similarly, the conversion of government vehicles and facilities to personal use and services at the expense of government work is hereby banned. All government vehicles should be strictly used for government assignments.
