NLC Debunks Fake Strike Notice in Yobe
Baba Dan’Iya
The Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), Yobe State Chapter, has debunked a fake circular circulating on social media platforms, calling for a statewide strike of civil servants.
Comrade Muktari Musa Tarbutu, the NLC Chairman in the state, made this clarification in a statement issued on Saturday in Damaturu.
Tarbutu described the circular as malicious and fabricated, urging the public to disregard it.
He explained that the joint committee of the government and NLC had concluded negotiations on the new minimum wage and forwarded its report to Governor Mai Mala Buni for consideration and approval.
The NLC chairman called on civil servants to continue with their normal duties and urged the public to verify information from credible sources before sharing it.
Tarbutu reiterated the NLC’s commitment to promoting and protecting the rights and interests of Yobe State workers.
Independent News Reporters report that Yobe is one of the few states in Nigeria that are yet to comply with the federal government’s directives of minimum payment to civil servants in the state.
