MEDCI supervises kidney disease sampling in Gashua

A non-governmental organization, Media and Disability Care Initiative (MEDCI), has supervised the ongoing kidney disease research sampling in Gashua Community, Yobe State.

Comrade Rajab Mohammed Ismail, Executive Director of MEDCI, commended the Yobe State Government for supporting the project under the leadership of Governor Mai Mala Buni. He also praised Dr. Mahmoud Bukar Maina, Special Adviser to the Governor on Science, Research, and Innovation, for mobilizing his team to commence the research ¹.

Dr. Maina, who is also the project coordinator, said they were in Gashua to collect samples on the directives of the state government, a process expected to take about ten days.

Ibrahim Babagana, Chairman of Bade Local Government Area, welcomed the research team and assured them of the council and emirate’s support to actualize their goals.

The research is part of efforts to address the prevalence of kidney disease in the state, particularly in the Bade Emirate, where the disease has become a major public health concern ².
