NOA launches nationwide enlightenment drive in Bauchi
By Ahmed Ahmed
The National Orientation Agency (NOA) has launched the third quarter of its nationwide enlightenment campaign in Bauchi State, aimed at deepening citizens’ trust in government, promoting national values, and fostering unity.
Speaking at the flag-off on Tuesday, the Director-General of NOA, Mallam Lanre Issa-Onilu, represented by the Director of Planning, Research and Statistics, Alhaji Nuru Yusuf Kobi, said the initiative seeks to bridge the gap between government and the people.
He noted that Nigerians must be fully informed and actively engaged in building a united and prosperous nation.
The campaign will span the 36 states, the FCT, and all 774 local government areas, using activities such as town hall meetings, school visits, advocacy to traditional and religious leaders, press conferences, market rallies, and roadshows.
Its focus areas include government programmes such as the NELFUND student loan scheme, social safety nets, and rural school renovations; disaster preparedness with N3 billion allocated to flood-prone states; enhanced security with new personnel and surveillance technologies; reorientation of national values among youths; and sensitization on Nigerian identity symbols.
NOA Bauchi State Director, Muhammad Mahe, highlighted vulnerable areas including Kirfi, Zaki, Gamawa, and Alkaleri, stressing compliance with environmental laws.
Issa-Onilu urged Nigerians to embrace the initiative, describing it as a platform for dialogue, ownership, and collective responsibility in governance.
