Renowned Islamic scholar Sheikh Dahiru Usman Bauchi has expressed profound gratitude to the President of the People’s Democratic Republic of Algeria, Mr. Abdelmadjid Tebboune, for granting full scholarships to 140 Nigerian students to study in Algerian universities.

The gesture followed a formal request made by the Sheikh Dahiru Usman Bauchi Foundation to the Algerian government, seeking educational support for young Nigerians, particularly members of the Tijaniyya Islamic community.

In a personally signed message of appreciation addressed to President Tebboune and shared with newsmen, Sheikh Dahiru Bauchi described the move as a demonstration of Algeria’s long-standing commitment to education, faith, and African solidarity.

“Your Excellency, I wish to express my deep gratitude for your government’s generous decision to open Algeria’s universities to one hundred and forty Tijaniyya students from Nigeria,” he wrote.

“This act is more than an educational gesture; it is a reaffirmation of the ideals that built Algeria’s reputation, the conviction that knowledge shared in sincerity becomes a bridge between peoples and a force for good in the world.

Such leadership strengthens Algeria’s standing as a country whose influence is measured not by dominion but by dignity, a voice of equilibrium and wisdom in an age that often forgets both.”

Reflecting on Algeria’s historical and moral role in Africa, Sheikh Dahiru noted that the North African nation has “stood as a moral compass on our continent, a nation whose strength flows not from wealth or might, but from its fidelity to knowledge, justice, and faith.”

He further highlighted Algeria’s spiritual significance, recalling the legacy of Sidi Ahmad al-Tijani, the revered founder of the Tijaniyya order.

“From this same soil rose the luminous path of Sidi Ahmad al-Tijani, may God be pleased with him a legacy that continues to nurture hearts from the Maghreb to the Sahel, from Algeria to Nigeria.

“Through its scholars, institutions, and people, Algeria has kept alive a tradition that unites reason with devotion and intellect with humility,” he said.

The scholar prayed for continued peace and prosperity in Algeria, saying, “May Allah, in His infinite mercy, continue to bless your stewardship, preserve Algeria in peace and progress, and make her always a source of light for humanity.”

According to the foundation, this is the second batch of Nigerian students to receive full scholarships from the Algerian government at Sheikh Dahiru Bauchi’s request. The first group of beneficiaries is now nearing the completion of their studies at various Algerian universities
