RUWASA urges stakeholders to complement government efforts in sanitation

Mr Emmanuel Esly, General Manager, Rural Water Supply and Supply Agency (RUWASA) Adamawa State has called on stakeholders to complement government efforts on environmental sanitation in urban and semi-urbarn communities especially on textile and tailors waste.
The Manager made the call at the sensitisation tower to Ganye and Shelleng Local Government Areas of Adamawa.
“This challenge is more evident in these communities so it has to be everybody’s responsibility to do the needful to save our environment before it will be too late for us”
“As we were saddled with the responsibility of providing Water and sanitation, we were involved in any spare of human existence for a healthy life.
“So textile and tailors waste negatively affects the water source and the general sanitation of our communities if they are not properly dispose they constitute a nuisance to us in terms of ground water pollution and contamination”, he explained.
He said that the agency would strategies to ensure going forward people at the grassroots are fully sensitised to ensure their environment is clean.
“In dealing with rural communities we have a kind of well structured programme that we take interms of focal group discussion, facilitation, behavioral change among others.
“With these we are going to restratigise this campaign into our programme because it’s very key and informally we are doing that since we deal with general sanitation of our communities.
Gidion Emmanuel, WASH Coordinator in Shelleng explained that they were doing their best in sensitising tailors and a lot have been achieved as their place is very tidy.
He also urged them to continue supporting government policies and programmes for maximum benefit.
