Senator Ibrahim Bomai, An All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship aspirant in Yobe has denied rumours of defection, reaffirming loyalty to the party and commitment to due process.

The aspirant said a recent meeting of APC governorship aspirants in Abuja was convened to promote fairness, equity and a level playing field ahead of the party’s primaries.

He explained that the meeting focused on ensuring strict compliance with the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria and provisions of the Electoral Act, 2026.

According to him, claims that the meeting was aimed at abandoning the APC for another party, particularly the African Democratic Congress (ADC), are false and unfounded.

“I remain a committed, loyal and steadfast member of the APC, fully dedicated to its ideals, principles and objectives,” he said.

The aspirant noted that since joining the APC in 2019, efforts by members had strengthened the party’s acceptance and electoral success in Yobe South.

He added that the APC secured almost all elective positions in the 2019 general elections and consolidated its performance in 2023, losing only one House of Representatives seat to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

He, however, called for strict adherence to due process in the forthcoming party primaries, urging that all aspirants be given equal opportunity without imposition of candidates.

The aspirant also said that any consensus arrangement must be transparent, inclusive and involve all stakeholders to ensure party unity.

He reiterated his loyalty to the APC and pledged to abide by its principles, guided by fairness, justice and constitutional provisions in all party affairs.
