The All Progressives Congress (APC), Bauchi State Chapter, has welcomed more than 150,000 new members amid a fresh wave of political realignment across the state.
This is contained in a statement signed by the APC State Chairman, Alhaji Mohammad Hassan Tilde, and made available to newsmen in Bauchi at the weekend.
The chairman said about 117,000 new members were formally presented at a major gathering of party leaders and supporters by the APC Deputy Governorship Candidate, Hon. Farouk Mustapha; former Political Adviser to Governor Bala Mohammed, Hon. Shittu Zaki; and Hassana Arkila.
He said additional registrations and defections had raised the number of new entrants above 150,000, with more expected.
According to him, the new members include a former PRP Chairman, Hon. Hamza, about 20 former local government chairmen, a former member of the House of Representatives, former office holders, political organisers, community leaders, women, youths and grassroots supporters.
Tilde attributed the growing support partly to the performance of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration and Federal Government interventions in Bauchi.
He also highlighted the contributions of Coordinating Minister of Health and Social Welfare, Prof. Muhammad Ali Pate, particularly in strengthening healthcare reforms and interventions.
The chairman urged members to integrate the new entrants into ward and local government structures, stressing unity and sustained participation as the party prepares for the next electoral cycle.
