Wali Pledges Continuity, Consolidation of Buni’s Legacy

Alhaji Baba Malam Wali, the Yobe governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) for the 2027 election, has pledged to sustain and consolidate the development legacy of Gov. Mai Mala Buni if elected.
Wali made the pledge on Saturday when he accompanied the APC State Chairman, Alhaji Mohammad Gadaka, on a consultation visit to the palaces of the Emirs of Gudi, Tikau, Pataskum and Fune Emirates.
The delegation, which included Wali’s running mate, Barrister Sale Samanja, Speaker of the Yobe State House of Assembly, Hon. Chiroma Buba Mashio, senators, members of the House of Representatives, commissioners and other party leaders, sought royal prayers, blessings and guidance ahead of the 2027 governorship election.
Wali said his experience serving as Secretary to the Yobe State Government under former Gov. Ibrahim Geidam and the incumbent, Gov. Buni, had exposed him to valuable lessons in governance and politics.
He expressed appreciation to Geidam and Buni for giving him the opportunity to serve in their administrations, saying the experience reinforced his understanding of the importance of continuity and consolidation in governance.
According to him, his administration, if elected, will build on the existing development agenda of the Buni administration while ensuring inclusive leadership.
Wali thanked the traditional rulers and people of the four emirates for their warm reception, prayers and goodwill, and reiterated his commitment to continuity and consolidation.
Earlier, Gadaka said the delegation was visiting the traditional institutions on the directive of Gov. Buni as part of the party’s ongoing consultations with stakeholders across the state.
He said the APC would return to the emirates during the formal campaign period, adding that the party valued the prayers, support and guidance of traditional rulers.
The Emirs of Gudi, Alhaji Isma’ila Ahmed Dala Ibn Madubu Khaji; Tikau, Alhaji Abubakar Mohammadu Ibn Grema II; Pataskum, Alhaji Umaru Bubaram Ibn Wuriwa Bauya; and Fune, Alhaji (Dr.) Saleh Idriss Ibn Uthman, received the delegation at their respective palaces.
The traditional rulers described Wali as a man of patience, royalty and integrity and urged their subjects to support his candidacy and vote for the APC in the 2027 elections.
They also conferred traditional titles on Wali in recognition of his relationship with the people and traditional institutions.
The titles included Sarkin Yakin Gudi in Gudi Emirate, Ajiyan Tikau in Tikau Emirate and Zannah Kaloma of Pataskum in Pataskum Emirate.
The visits formed part of the APC and Wali’s consultations with traditional rulers, political leaders and other stakeholders ahead of the 2027 governorship election.
