Wali Pledges Agriculture, Education Focus if Elected
The All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate in Yobe, Alhaji Baba Malam Wali, has pledged to prioritise agriculture, livestock development and education if elected governor in 2027.
Wali stated this during consultations with traditional rulers and stakeholders in Gudi, Tikau, Fune and Pataskum emirates.
At Tikau, the Emir, His Royal Highness Alhaji Abubakar Muhammad Ibn Grema, urged Wali to prioritise agriculture and livestock development as strategies for reducing poverty and improving livelihoods.
The monarch also stressed the need for sustained investment in education to create opportunities for young people.
At Fune, the Speaker of the Yobe State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Chiroma Buba Mashio, described the area as an APC stronghold and assured Wali of the support of political stakeholders.
Wali described Fune as “our hometown” and acknowledged the contributions of the people and political leaders to his emergence as the APC candidate.
He specifically appreciated Deputy Governor Hon. Idi Barde Gubana and Mashio for their support.
Wali assured the people that, if elected, his administration would be based on honesty, trust and accountability, while consolidating the achievements of Gov. Mai Mala Buni.
He also expressed appreciation to Buni and former Governor Ibrahim Geidam for the opportunities to serve as Secretary to the Yobe State Government under their administrations.
