Zulum links APC support to sustained development in Borno

Gov. Babagana Zulum of Borno has said continued support for the All Progressives Congress (APC) at all levels will enable the state to sustain its partnership with the Federal Government and benefit from development projects.

Zulum stated this on Sunday in Maiduguri while addressing a mammoth crowd that gathered to welcome him following his return from an overseas trip.

The governor said the people of Borno were committed to supporting the APC, adding that, according to him, voting for the party’s candidates at the presidential, National Assembly and State Assembly levels would strengthen the state’s access to Federal Government interventions.

“If we don’t vote APC at all levels, how do we benefit from Federal Government projects?” he asked.

Zulum said the people of the state would continue to support the APC because of what he described as the benefits associated with having the same political platform at the federal and state levels.

He also announced plans to commence empowerment programmes targeting youths, women and business owners, particularly those operating in Monday Market and other commercial areas.

The governor said the empowerment initiatives were aimed at creating opportunities and improving the economic wellbeing of beneficiaries.

Zulum urged residents to continue supporting the APC, saying, according to him, the party’s administrations had contributed to development in the state.

Also speaking, Alhaji Ali Bukar Dalori, APC Deputy National Chairman (North), urged Borno residents to support the party’s candidates from the presidential election down to the State House of Assembly.

Dalori said the support would help strengthen the party’s presence across the state.

Earlier, Alhaji Bello Ayuba, APC Chairman in Borno, said the state remained an APC state, claiming that the party had maintained a strong political presence in Borno since the return to democratic rule.

Ayuba called on APC supporters to remain committed to the party ahead of the 2027 general elections.
