Troops of Operation Hadin Kai have neutralised 44 suspected terrorists during coordinated military operations in Kukawa Local Government Area and the Lake Chad region of Borno.

The operations, conducted on Oct. 26 and Oct. 28, also left several suspected terrorists injured, following ground engagements, naval offensives and an air interdiction mission.

The Acting Military Information Officer, Headquarters Joint Task Force (North East), Capt. Mohammed Goni, disclosed this in a statement issued on Wednesday.

Goni said troops engaged suspected terrorists at different locations in Kukawa on Oct. 26, following intelligence reports and surveillance observations.

He said a battle damage assessment indicated that 28 terrorists were neutralised, while six others sustained injuries.

According to him, the Maritime Component of Operation Hadin Kai, operating from the Naval Base Lake Chad in Baga, also launched offensive operations against terrorist targets in the Lake Chad area on Oct. 28.

He said preliminary assessments indicated that eight terrorists were neutralised, while 10 others sustained varying degrees of injuries.

The military also reported that an air interdiction mission disrupted an attempt by suspected terrorists to plant improvised explosive devices (IEDs).

Goni said the operation neutralised eight operatives and destroyed their vehicle, motorcycles and IED materials, thereby preventing them from carrying out their planned activities.

He said the operations demonstrated the military’s commitment to weakening terrorist networks, degrading their operational capabilities and restricting their freedom of movement across the North-East.

The military spokesman reaffirmed the Theatre Command’s resolve to sustain intelligence-led joint operations to protect communities and restore lasting peace and security in the region.

He urged members of the public to provide credible information to security agencies to support ongoing counter-terrorism operations.
