PDP accuses YOROTA, security agencies of removing party’s flags in Yobe

People’s Democratic Party (PDP) has accused Yobe State Road Traffic Management Agency (YOROTA) of displacing its flags and posters in some parts of the state.

The PDP State’s party leader, Alhaji Adamu Waziri who made the accusation at inauguration of the party’s State Campaign Council (SCC) on Tuesday in Damaturu.

“I received reports from various parts, especially from Damaturu and Gujba local government areas.

“That an agency of the state called Yobe State Road Traffic Management Agency (YOROTA) allegedly assisted by police and Civil Defence, have been removing our flags in various parts of the State.”, he said.

He said PDP had a right to co-exist as a political party in Nigerian political space.

“We equally have a ride to share the political space with any of the other 17 political parties recognised by the Nigerian law.”, he said.

Commenting on the issue, DSP Dungus Abdulkarim, the Police Public Relations Officer said the allegation against police personnel was not true.

Also commenting, the NSCDC Public Relations Officer, Mr Bala Garba said a uniform used by a patrol team unit of YOROTA, that ride motorbike looked like NSCDC’s uniform.

There some people mistook them for NSCDC operatives.

The command’s attention was drawn and action would be taken to address the issue.

He added that policemen were neutral, impartial and never got involved in politics.

On the hand, all efforts to reach the Managing Director, YOROTA over the accusation failed.

Speaking at the occasion, Dr Abdu Bulama, the Chairman SCC said the campaign council comprised of experienced and committed party members.

“We must approach this assignment with the commitment and love for the party and the country.

“We should cultivate and exhibit the tradition of part love and cohesion, and esprit de core.”, he added.
