NSCDC Yobe command describes private security companies as partners
Mr. Sa’idu Aliyu, the Commandant Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Yobe command said the private security companies play a vital role in assisting conventional security agencies in the state.
Aliyu stated this at the inauguration of new executives of Association of Private Security Practitioners of Nigeria (ALPSPN), Yobe State Chapter on Wednesday in Damaturu.
He said private security companies continue to play a vital role in augmenting the services of conventional security agencies in the state.
He said they served as a veritable tool for Intelligence gathering and neighborhood watch.
“It is an open secret that the population of the state is increasing day by day so also the crime rate.
“The inadequate man power of conventional security agencies continue to pose a significant challenge to the existence of a peaceful and secure environment.
“Consequently, there is a need for private Security companies to continue to play a vital role in ensuring the stability, peace and protection of critical infrastructures in Yobe state.”, he said.
The Commandant said the era of quack security private guard companies operating in Yobe had become a history.
Aliyu expressed gratitude to Yobe state governor, Mai Mala Buni and other stakeholders in the state for their support and cooperation to the command.
