Yobe Govt. Inaugurates Agricultural Empowerment Programme
Yobe State Government on Saturday launched an Agricultural Empowerment Programme aimed at boosting food security and economic development in the state.
Governor Mai Mala Buni, while inaugurating the programme, said it would provide 100 Zoom Lion Tractors, 10 IMC Double Cabin 4-wheel drive vehicles, 200 motorcycles, 300 sets of Ox-drawn ploughs, and other agricultural equipment to 5,340 farmers across the state.
Buni said the programme was designed to make agriculture attractive, profitable, and sustainable, and to guarantee food sufficiency and security in the state.
He warned that the government would not tolerate any act of sabotage to frustrate the programme’s objectives.
The governor directed security agencies to arrest and impound tractors and other machines crossing the border lines of the state.
He appealed to the people of Yobe to take advantage of the programme to embrace agriculture and ensure food security and economic development.
He also commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his leadership and support in addressing the challenges facing the state.
In his address, Tinubu, represented by Vice President Kashim Shettima, said the federal government was committed to supporting the state’s agricultural development efforts.
He express optimism that when the near future the people of the State will have sufficient food for the state and beyond.
He urged the people of Yobe to support the programme and ensure its success.
