Breaking: Bandits attack healthcare centre, abduct nurses, patients in Birnin Gwari
Bandits attacked the Primary Healthcare Centre in Kuyallo, Birnin-Gwari Local Government Area of Kaduna State, abducting two nurses and an unspecified number of patients on Monday.
The attackers, who arrived around 9:00 am, initially targeted the nearby Government Day Secondary School but found it empty. They then shifted their focus to the healthcare facility, causing widespread panic.
Musa Alhassan, a local vigilante leader, said the gunmen were looking for students but abducted people from the health centre instead.
The Kaduna State Police Command and state government officials have yet to issue a statement on the incident. Efforts to reach the Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Mansir Hassan, were unsuccessful.
This attack is the latest in a series of attacks on healthcare facilities and communities in Kaduna State, highlighting the growing insecurity in the region. Dr. Ganiyat Popoola, a medical doctor, remains in captivity after being abducted by bandits several months ago.
