NEDC assesses flood-damaged roads in Yobe

The Managing Director/CEO of the North East Development Commission (NEDC), Mohamed Alkali, and senior staff, have assessed flood-damaged roads in Yobe State.

The team visited Nangere LGA, where the road between Tarajim and Garin-Gada was damaged due to heavy downpour, linking Potiskum to northern Yobe.

They also visited Kariyari and Jumbam road in Tarmuwa LGA, where a road collapsed due to flood, linking nine LGAs in northern and eastern Yobe.

In Gujba LGA, the team assessed the damaged road in Katarko, linking southern Yobe, Gombe, and Borno State.

Alkali stated that the visit aimed to assess the situation and provide immediate and long-term support to alleviate the suffering of the people.

The NEDC team evaluated the damage and discussed potential solutions to restore the roads and ensure safe passage.

Alkali assured of assisting communities affected by the flood, where farms were washed away.

The visit is part of NEDC’s mandate to provide aid and support to affected areas.
