In a significant development, the Yobe House of Assembly has cleared the North East Development Commission (NEDC) of allegations levelled against it by one Babagana Aisami.

The Yobe NEDC coordinator, Prof. Ali Abbas made this known to our Correspondent on Wednesday in statement.

He said the Assembly members, including Hon. Bukar Mustapha (Geidam central), Hon. Mohammed Ali (Geidam South), Hon. Ahmed Musa Dumbol (Yunusari), and Hon. Zannah Babagana (Bursari constituency), interacted with beneficiaries and staff of the Yobe NEDC office to verify the allegations.

After examining the evidence provided by the beneficiaries and the NEDC office, the Assembly members found no wrongdoing on the part of the commission.

They commended the NEDC for its efforts in delivering its official duties and encouraged the officials not to be deterred by baseless allegations.

Abbas, explained that the commission’s mode of operations in Yobe is similar to other states in the north-eastern part of the country.

He emphasized that the commission works directly with relevant ministries, agencies, and organizations to select beneficiaries for its training and programmes.

He added that the Assembly members, in their fatherly role, promised to take further action to prevent similar incidents in the future.

This development is a significant boost to the NEDC’s efforts to promote development in Yobe State and the north-eastern region as a whole.
