Sheik Abdulazeez was a voice for the oppressed – Dogara
By Ahmed Kaigama
Yakubu Dogara, former Speaker of the House of Representatives and Jhendhim Zaar/Jarman Tikau, has expressed deep sorrow over the passing of Sheik Dr Abdulazeez Idris, describing the late cleric as a brother, friend, patriot, and voice of the oppressed.
In a heartfelt condolence message, Dogara said he received the news of Sheik Abdulazeez’s demise on April 3, 2024, with profound shock
“I have known and related closely with Malam, and our relationship grew even stronger in 2023, particularly during our joint efforts to rally Bauchi citizens toward liberation and progress,” he said.
He extolled the late Islamic cleric’s unwavering courage and dedication to truth and justice, noting that Malam was not only a religious leader but also a selfless philanthropist and fearless advocate for the downtrodden.
“Malam’s heart has always panted for the downtrodden. He was courageous and personified, never shy to speak truth to power, no matter who was involved,” Dogara stated.
He extended his condolences to the bereaved family, followers, disciples, and the peace-loving people of Bauchi State, praying that Allah grants them the fortitude to bear the loss and grants Malam eternal rest.
“Sheik Abdulazeez will be sorely missed by all,” Dogara concluded
