
NUC accredits 17 courses at Sa’adu Zungur University Bauchi

The National
Universities Commission (NUC) has granted accreditation to 17 academic programmes at Sa’adu Zungur University (SAZU), Bauchi, a significant milestone in the institution’s pursuit of academic excellence and educational quality.
This is contained in a statement signed by Auwal Hassan Public Relations Officer, of the University made available to newsmen on Saturday in Bauchi
According to the statement, In a letter dated 30th April 2025, signed by the Executive Secretary of the NUC and addressed to the Visitor of the University, Sen. Bala Mohammed, Governor of Bauchi State,
The Commission confirmed the accreditation, citing Section 10(1) of the Education Act CAP E3, Laws of the Federation of Nigeria 2004. The law empowers the NUC to set minimum academic standards and accredit university programmes nationwide.
This development follows a comprehensive assessment visit by a high-powered NUC panel to the university on 22nd November 2024, as part of the October/November 2024 accreditation exercise.
The newly accredited programmes, covering diverse faculties and departments, include faculty of administration, departments Accounting Full, Business Administration Full,Public Administration Full
Faculty of Agriculture, Agriculture Full, Faculty of Arts Arabic Full, Faculty of Allied Health Sciences,Human Physiology Full, Public Health (Interim)
Faculty of Basic Medical Sciences, Anatomy Full,
Faculty of Law, Law Full, Faculty of Pharmacy,Pharm D (Interim)
Others are Faculty of Science, Botany Full, Chemistry Full, Mathematics Full Microbiology Full, Physics Full, Science Laboratory Technology Full, Zoology Full
Vice Chancellor of SAZU, Prof. Fatimah Tahir, described the accreditation as a “defining moment” for the university.
“This marks a step forward in realizing our mission of academic excellence and our vision of becoming a leading institution in Nigeria,” she stated.
Tahir also expressed profound appreciation to the Executive Governor of Bauchi State, Senator Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed, for his continuous support and commitment to the growth of the university.
The VC acknowledged that with this accreditation, SAZU is poised to compete with leading institutions across the country, reaffirming its dedication to producing competent graduates equipped to contribute positively to national development.
