NEMA Seeks Stakeholders’ Support to Mitigate Flood Disaster

The National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) has solicited support and cooperation of stakeholders to be proactive on migrating the effect of flood in the country.

Mrs Zubaida Umar, NEMA’s Director General made the call at the stakeholders engagement on national disaster preparedness and response campaign 2025 in Yola on Thursday.

The DG who was represented by Mr Abbani Imam-Garki, Director Relief and Rehabilitation said, the stakeholders have a vital role to play to avert disasters across their respective areas.

He said that the sensitisation is part of the steps taken to mitigate flood in the country following the release of a report by the Nigeria Meteorological Agency, Nimets.

“Therefore we are calling on all the stakeholders to double effort on the issue of disaster preparedness and response to flood.

“That is the campaign is paramount for everyone to contribute their own part to save lives and property of Nigerians”, she said.
Mr Maliki Ahmadu, Head IOM called on all stakeholders to work together toward achieving positive results.
He said with this they can be able to make an impact whenever there is a flood disaster.

Dr Cecilia La’ori, Executive Secretary Adamawa State Emergency Management Agency, ADSEMA appreciated the federal government on the steps taken.

According to her, the state government has already gone far ahead with sensitisation at the local level.

She also appreciated the effort of the stakeholders for their commitment to disaster management in the state.

Mr Ladan Ayuba, Head of Operation NEMA, Adamawa appreciated stakeholders especially the Local Emergency Management Committee at LG for their support and cooperation.

He also expressed the need for their capacity building for effective service delivery at the grassroots.
