The Federal Mortgage Bank of Nigeria (FMBN) has registered 2,370 retirees for the National Housing Fund (NHF) and disbursed over N500 million between 2023 and 2025 in Bauchi State.

Alhaji Abubakar Muazu, the Branch Manager of FMBN in Bauchi stated this in an interview with newsmen on Tuesday in Bauchi

Muazu expressed satisfaction with the high level of interest shown by retirees in the state,

He noted that 18 out of the 20 local government areas have been actively integrated into the scheme, saying only two LGAs are yet to fully comply.

The Manager also revealed that some local government areas have successfully secured home renovation loans under the NHF program.

However, the Branch Manager lamented that the inability of the Bauchi State Government to settle an outstanding arrear of N459 million initially stalled further disbursement efforts.

“Despite several written reminders and follow-ups, the arrears remained unpaid until recently,” he said.

Muazu confirmed that following a meeting convened by the state Commissioner of Finance between FMBN officials and the state government,

“An agreement was reached for the state to clear the arrears, paving the way for continued financial support to contributors.

He urged members of the public to take advantage of the bank’s services.

“Our people are often nonchalant about the opportunities available at the Bank. The FMBN is for everyone.

Our doors are always open for inquiries and assistance,” Muazu said.
